It is with great sadness that we share the news that arcenciel’s Damour center was severely damaged due to a fire that broke out on the 15th of October in a nearby forest, and spread across surrounding areas, badly burning our center.

Over the past 15 years, since its establishment, the Damour Center has relentlessly provided interventions promoting sustainable development in the area and served the most vulnerable in Damour and its neighboring communities; a mission we are committed to fulfilling, despite the incurred losses and damages.

Activities covered by arcenciel’s Damour Center:

• Having 32 children in its inclusive nursery
• Hosting a Social Flea Market that collects donated furniture (loading up to 1.5 trucks, daily) to be donated back to vulnerable people after refurbishment
• Providing physiotherapy and other paramedical sessions to patients from Damour and its surrounding areas, on a weekly basis
• Collecting recyclable wastes in its sorting facility from 200 households
• Having 35 full time employees and 12 part-time and contractual employees, many of whom are individuals with difficulties; who will be facing now technical unemployment
• Hosting Caritas office, as part of arcenciel’s commitment of collaboration with the Lebanese Civil Society at large.
