    Retrofitting of public buildings through green technologies and processes (RE-FIT)

    Description:

    General Objective: Contribute to climate change mitigation and to a circular economy in Lebanon, through low-carbon and energy resource-efficient solutions and processes (e.g. recycling practices).

    Specific Objective: Support the application and promotion of renewable energy (RE) and energy-efficient (EE) technologies that are economically sustainable and innovative for Lebanon – with a focus on public buildings.

    1- Collaborating with ICU in the implementation of the improvements in the public buildings (26 buildings);

    2- Coordinating the pilot experience of installation of recycled batteries in the selected buildings with UNIGE;

    3- Working jointly with Foundation Diane in the establishment of the pilot facility for batteries storage- following European standards;

    4- Carrying out a detailed study of the state of play of the battery collection value chain and make suggestions on how to incorporate legislative models from European countries;

    5- Establishing contacts with all the stakeholders in the battery collection value chain to promote legislative changes with the support of UNIGE.
